Wennatchee Omnium State Championships

To start off I apologize that I haven't updated my blog in forever. I have been really busy with school finishing up this week. I have three more days of high school left then I am DONE!!! I have recently raced in the Wennatchee Omnium State Championships. Due to having to attend my organic chemistry class I had to fly to Wennatchee the day before the race which worked out quite well in substitute of driving for 14 hours to get there. The race started off with the time trial with my first teamate going out at 8 o'clock and me going off at 11:30. It is definitely different going off so much later than everyone else. I did the 10 mile tt in 23:24 good enough for mid pack. That evening at 7:30 was my crit. Remembering the crit from last year of me getting dropped and pulled in the cat. 4 race, I was a little nervous going into it. The race started off fast as they usually do, and throughout the whole race we sprinted up the only hill in the course everytime above threshold, which gets a little tiring when going for an hour. The crit was much tougher than even junior nationals last year which at the time was extremely tough and the toughest thing I had done up to that date. Prior to the race starting, the announcer said there would be 5 priem laps and I honestly could not tell we had one until the final priem. We were going so hard that the pack was a single file ling for most of the race. I ended up finishing in the lead pack (top 25) and got a massage afterwards. The final day brought along hot weather in the upper 80's and two laps of the road course meaning I would have to climb the mountain twice, it scared the shit out of me. I was hoping the race would start off at an easy pace and gently get faster from there, but I was horribly wrong!!! Right off the bat the pace was quick and once we hit the mountain climb, the pelaton was shattered. After struggling up the mountain the first time I got in a group and rode the rest of the race with them. The race was very hard in all and I am currently resting for my next race which is on Sunday. I will be skipping my high school graduation for this race!!!
