Cow Country Classic Road Race

I woke up to more driving!!!! This was the second day in a row that there was a transfer to the start of the race. Ganted it was only 80km. I got to the start and the weather forcast was for temps in the mid to high 80's and there was no feed zone on the 140km course!!!!! How lame is that! From what I hear this race is natorious for not having an established feed zone with last years feed zone being a cooler full of water bottles on the side of the road and you had to stop and get one out and then start riding again, WHAT!!! After I somewhat calmed down from this little fiasco of no feed zone the race started at 10:30. In the team meeting, the goal was to get either Brian Frykman, Brad Morgan, or John Curry the overall win. Going into this race our team had won every Montana race this year with two of our three leaders having won a race, but the only one who hadn't (Jonh Curry) was the Montana points leader and is wearing the pink leaders jersey.

The race started off slow with lots of wind and then I put in an attack but was covered right away :( bummer. Soon after though, me and my teamate Seb White initiated an attack and got away with 3 others. One of the riders that got away with us, attacked us after spending 15 min with us and eventually built up a 5min gap on us. The biggest gap we held the whole day over the peleton was 3 min. Our hope was that this would dwindle the pack down to where there was only a couple riders left in the lead group that would catch us and that one of them would be one of our three leaders. After about 65km of being away, the lead group caught us and I was totally stoked to see John Curry in the lead pack of about 4 or 5. I dont know how the rest of the race went for him except the ending result being him winning!!! It was an outstanding performance by John Curry and a third straight victory for Team GAS/Intrinsik. Now each one of our team leaders has a win on their belts this season as we go into a hectic next couple of weeks with two state championship races in two weeks. The first being my favorite, the state crit this weekend in Whitefish, MT. I hope we continue our dominance in Montana racing this weekend. After the road race on Sunday I finally felt that I made a significant contribution to the team and was very happy that I could help John Curry win. To me there is no better position to be than a domestique, absolutely LOVE IT!!!

Right after the race, I climbed in the truck and we drove 380km back to Billings, MT to attend my high school graduation. I mad it just in time to go through the ceremony. After that, we had an all night party at our school called the Falcon Finale where you played games and won money, prizes, food, ect. I left there with 100$ and a new coffee maker and George Forman Grill. When I got out of the pary it was 5 in the morning and me and my buddy's went folfing nine holes. Immediatley afterwards I went to sleep and have been doing so off and on all day.
