Team GAS strikes again as Alex takes the cat. 3 state crit championship. It was a very difficult race and did not turn out totally the way we wanted in that we lost the overall cat.1,2,3 race but took the cat. 3 state championship. The course was totally flat and had 6 turns with half of the course being severely windy. John Curry, Seb White, and I took turns attacking, covering breaks, and working at the front of the peleton. Our job was simple, not let any breaks go and lead Alex out for the final sprint. We did our job to the "T" except for missing one break which in the end caused us from not winning the overall. The break went about half way into the hour crit and with about 15 laps to go we realized that we needed to pull it back, but it was a little to late as the break had monsters like Josh Tack. So the last 15 laps we worked to pull them in but were unsuccessfull. Alex was lead out and won the group sprint!!!!
Then today we went and climbed Logan Pass with the team and had to stop due to snow covering the road. It ended up being a totall of 65 miles and my legs sure felt all the climbing plus the crit. I felt awesome about my contribution to the team in the crit as I worked harder than I ever have. I iniciated a couple breaks, covered breaks, and worked at the front with Seb and John the whole race. I could hardly walk after it was over, but it was all worth it as Alex got the win!!!
